A Carteret County man accused of using social media as a registered sex offender is now behind bars.

Carteret County deputies say they arrested 31-year-old Christopher Matthew Jolin of Newport for using Facebook, which is a violation of his sex offender registry conditions.

Jolin was originally placed on the registry in 2005 after being convicted of indecent liberties with a 14-year-old child in 2004.
